Fee base = Item price + Shipping charged to buyer
Selling fee = Fee base × 10%

How much does Mercari take per sale in 2026?
Mercari charges sellers a flat 10% selling fee on the combined item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. On a $40 item with free shipping, that is $4.00, leaving you $36.00. There is no separate seller payment processing fee — that was removed on January 6, 2025.
Does Mercari still charge a payment processing fee?
No, not to sellers. Before January 6, 2025 a 2.9% + $0.50 processing fee existed, but Mercari restructured its fees and removed it. Listings created before that date and never updated may still follow the old structure; anything you list today uses the flat 10%.
Does the 10% fee apply to shipping?
Yes, if the buyer pays for shipping, that amount is included in the fee base. If you charge $8 shipping on a $40 item, Mercari's 10% is calculated on $48, not $40 — so the fee is $4.80 rather than $4.00. This is the single most common reason a Mercari payout is lower than a seller expected.
What is the Mercari Buyer Protection fee?
It is a 3.6% fee charged to the buyer at checkout, not to you. It does not reduce your payout at all. It does raise the buyer's total price, which is worth knowing when you are deciding how to price competitively against other platforms.
Does Mercari charge a listing fee?
No. Listing is free and there is no limit on how many items you can list. You only pay the 10% selling fee when an item actually sells.
How do I get paid, and does that cost anything?
Standard ACH direct deposit to your bank is free and typically arrives in 5–7 business days. Instant Pay puts the money in your account in around 30 minutes for a flat $3 fee. If a direct deposit fails, Mercari charges $2.
Is Mercari cheaper than eBay or Poshmark?
For most items, yes. Mercari's flat 10% is well below eBay's 13.6% plus per-order fee and Poshmark's 20% commission on items $15 and up.
