How Marginory calculates and verifies fees

Every calculator on Marginory reads its rates from one fee module. The table below is generated from that module, so it always shows the values the calculators use. Each row says whether the value is a rate the platform publishes, an estimate, or something you enter yourself.

Sources

Rates come from each platform's own fee pages and help centre. Tax rules come from the government authority (for example the German Federal Ministry of Finance or Ireland's Revenue). Third-party blogs and other calculators are never used as a source for a rate; if an official page cannot be read during a review, the row is marked for recheck rather than updated from a secondary source.

Confirmed, estimate and your input

  • Confirmed — published by the platform on the linked page for the stated country.
  • ESTIMATE — a reference value that varies by account, product, provider or destination, such as Printify base costs or Amazon FBA fees. Replace it with your own quote.
  • Your input — the platform does not publish one rate (ad rates, affiliate commission, negotiated rates). The calculator asks you for it.

How updates work

When a platform changes a fee, the value is changed once in the fee module and every calculator, guide table and worked example that uses it updates with it. Each row keeps the date it was last checked against the official page. A page's "content reviewed" date refers to the text; the verification date in a calculator's formula box refers to the rate.

Calculation rules

  • Revenue is what the buyer pays you for the item and shipping. Sales tax or VAT collected by the marketplace is not revenue, but is included in a fee base when the platform charges on it (Etsy processing, eBay Final Value Fee).
  • Payout is revenue after platform deductions. Profit also subtracts product, shipping and other costs you enter. Margin is profit ÷ revenue.
  • Break-even and target prices are solved against the full fee model, including fixed fees, thresholds and tiers, and rounded up to the cent so the result never falls short.
  • Displayed amounts are rounded to the cent; totals are computed before rounding.
  • Tax: calculators do not compute your income tax or VAT liability. Where VAT on platform fees can be a cost (for example EU sellers without a VAT ID), the guide explains it and cites the tax authority.
  • Currency: each calculator states its currency. Fees billed in USD to non-US shops are converted with an illustrative rate; use the rate on your statement.

Country scope

Most calculators model US accounts. Country guides exist only where the fee structure, currency or tax treatment is actually different (for example UK regulatory fees or EU VAT on fees). If your country is not covered, use the custom profit calculator with the rates from your account.
