How to improve TikTok Shop profit margin
Source products with 60%+ gross margin
With TikTok Shop fees and affiliates eating 19–29%, you need high gross margin products. Beauty, supplements, accessories, and branded private-label products typically hit 60–75% gross margin. Reselling low-margin commodities rarely works.
Start with your own content, add affiliates later
In the first 1–3 months, build your own content and sales without affiliate cost. Once you know your conversion rate and margin, enable affiliates strategically. Starting with 10% commission and increasing if volume warrants is a common approach.
Test one product at a time
TikTok Shop's algorithm rewards a hero product — one SKU that goes viral drives most revenue. Don't spread inventory across 20 items. Find the one with the best video hook potential and double down.
Factor in returns before setting your price
