IVA (VAT) on Etsy fees
Etsy's fees are a service bought from Etsy's Irish company. If Etsy has no valid VAT number for your shop, it adds Italy's 22% VAT to its fees. With a valid VAT number on file, Etsy does not charge VAT and you account for it under the reverse charge in your own return; a fully VAT-registered business can then deduct it, so the net cost is zero. If you are under a small-business scheme without input-tax deduction, VAT on Etsy fees is a real cost: on the €30.00 order above it adds about €0.85.
