Does Depop Still Take 10%?
No. Depop removed the 10% selling fee for US sellers on 15 July 2024 and has not reinstated it. A large share of the resale content online still quotes the old rate, which is why the question keeps coming up — here is what actually comes off a sale today.

The answer
No. Depop removed the 10% selling fee for US sellers on 15 July 2024. There is no selling commission and no listing fee. What still comes off a sale is payment processing, and — only if you opt in — a 12% Boosted Listings charge.
This is confirmed by Depop's own announcement rather than seller reports, so it is one of the few resale fee facts you can rely on completely. Read Depop's announcement →
Before and after
| Sale price | Before: 10% + processing | Now: processing only | Extra in your pocket |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15.00 | $2.45 | $0.95 | +$1.50 |
| $30.00 | $4.44 | $1.44 | +$3.00 |
| $50.00 | $7.10 | $2.10 | +$5.00 |
| $100.00 | $13.75 | $3.75 | +$10.00 |
| $200.00 | $27.05 | $7.05 | +$20.00 |
| $400.00 | $53.65 | $13.65 | +$40.00 |
Processing figures are the widely reported 3.3% + $0.45 estimate — Depop does not publish this rate publicly.
For a seller doing $2,000 a month in sales, the removal is worth about $200 a month — roughly $2,400 a year that used to go to Depop.
What replaced it
Depop did not simply give up the revenue. It moved the charge to the buyer side, adding a marketplace fee at checkout capped around 5% or $1.00.
| Who pays | Before July 2024 | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Seller — selling fee | 10% of the sale | None |
| Seller — payment processing | Applied | Still applied |
| Seller — listing fee | None | None |
| Buyer — marketplace fee | None | Up to ~5% or $1 |
| Optional — Boosted Listings | 12% when boosted item sells | Unchanged at 12% |
The net effect for sellers is straightforwardly positive. The net effect for buyers is a slightly higher checkout total, which is worth knowing when your listing is competing against the same item on another app.
Where 10% still appears
If you have seen the 10% figure recently, it was probably one of these:
- Articles published before July 2024 that were never revised — by far the most common source.
- Comparison tables on aggregator sites, which tend to be updated rarely and copied often.
- Non-US markets.Fee structures vary by country; check Depop's terms for your own market rather than assuming.
- Confusion with the 12% boost fee, which is a different, optional charge that still exists.
- Old forum threads and videos, where the original date is easy to miss.
What this makes Depop worth
Removing the selling fee moved Depop from mid-pack to cheapest among the major resale apps:
| Platform | Fee on $75 | You keep | vs Depop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Depop | $2.93 | $72.08 | — |
| Mercari | $7.50 | $67.50 | $4.57 more |
| eBay | $10.60 | $64.40 | $7.68 more |
| Poshmark | $15.00 | $60.00 | $12.07 more |
The caveat that has not changed: Depop is fashion-only and its buyer base skews heavily toward Gen-Z vintage, Y2K, and streetwear. Cheap fees do not help if your inventory is not what that audience buys. Is Depop worth it for what you sell? →
