What is the Shopify transaction fee?
The Shopify transaction fee is an additional charge when you use a third-party payment gateway instead of Shopify Payments. Rates: Basic 2%, Shopify plan 1%, Advanced 0.5% of each sale. This is on top of whatever your payment gateway (e.g., PayPal, Stripe) charges. Use Shopify Payments to avoid it entirely.
Does Shopify charge a transaction fee if I use Shopify Payments?
No. When you use Shopify Payments as your payment processor, Shopify waives the transaction fee completely. You only pay the payment processing rate: 2% + $0.30 (Basic), 1.5% + $0.30 (Shopify), 0.85% + $0.30 (Advanced).
