What fees does Etsy take on a Printify sale?
On each Etsy order you pay a 6.5% transaction fee (charged on the item price and the shipping you bill), a 3% + $0.25 US payment processing fee, and a $0.20 listing fee per item. On a $27.99 Printify tee that's roughly $2.99 in Etsy fees on top of your ~$16 Printify cost — this calculator subtracts all of it to show true net profit.
Does Etsy charge the 6.5% fee on shipping too?
Yes. Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee applies to the total order — item price plus any shipping you charge. That's why most Printify sellers build the ~$4.49 Printify shipping cost into the item price and offer free shipping: you pay the 6.5% either way, and free-shipping listings get a visibility boost in Etsy search.
Should I factor in Etsy Offsite Ads?
If Etsy makes a sale through Offsite Ads, it charges an extra 15% (or 12% once you pass $10,000 in trailing-12-month sales). It's mandatory above that threshold. This calculator doesn't add Offsite Ads by default since it only applies to some orders — but if a large share of your sales come through ads, add 12–15% to your fee estimate to stay safe.
What's a good Printify-on-Etsy profit margin?
Aim for 25–35% net margin after Printify cost, shipping, and Etsy fees. On a Bella+Canvas 3001 (~$11.55 base + $4.49 ship) sold at $27.99, you net roughly $8.96 — about 32%. How is this different from selling Printify on Shopify?
Etsy's per-sale cut (~9.5% + $0.45 in listing and fixed fees) is much higher than Shopify's (2.9% + $0.30), but Etsy brings built-in buyer traffic while Shopify does not.
