Should I charge customers for POD shipping?
On Etsy, roll shipping into the item price and offer free shipping — Etsy charges its 6.5% fee on shipping you bill anyway, and free-shipping listings rank better. On Shopify, a free-shipping threshold often lifts order value. Either way, make sure the price covers the first-item shipping the POD provider charges you (~$4.49–$4.79 on apparel).
Why do POD orders ship separately when I use two providers?
If a customer buys two items fulfilled by different print providers (common on Printify) or from different regional facilities, each ships on its own and you pay a full 'first item' rate for each. To keep shipping costs down, group products from the same provider and facility where possible — this calculator helps you see the difference.
Does international POD shipping cost more?
Yes, significantly — international rates are often 2–3× domestic and delivery is slower, which also raises the risk of lost-package refunds.
